Poor Basil the lurcher cross has been desperately seeking a home of his own for almost three years. Basil was part of a case when he was a very young dog - that meant that he was unable to be rehomed until the case finished, by which time he had grown and was no longer as attractive to potential adopters. Sadly Basil seems to have stuck ever since and just hasn't managed to find somebody to love him.
To try to help him to find a home he's been moved around different animal centres and we're his latest one. We're determined to find him his perfect happy ending!
We feel so heartbroken for Basil as he is such a sweet boy. He has adjusted to kennel life, as it is most of what he has known, but it is not the same as having a loving home and family to call your own.
Basil is looking for a home where he will ideally be the only pet as he would benefit from having the full attention of his new owners. He does socialise well with larger dogs when on walks but would do well with extra training in this area. He is a well-behaved boy and he walks with ease on a lead. He is looking for a home with people who will help him to settle, and be patient and understanding - remember, this will be the first time he has lived in a home for a long time.
Every dog has their own adorable little quirks, and Basil will do anything for a bit of ham! He loves to spend time with the staff in the yard and can happily amuse himself but will always come back for a bit of love and reassurance.
If you have experience of larger breeds and have the time to give to Basil, he will be so rewarding in return. Please contact the Centre via the enquiry form on his page or by giving us a call on 01332 344620 if you'd like to find out more information. Alternatively just pop down during our opening hours to talk to staff and meet this handsome boy.
