An Easy Guide to Online Fundraising

Nov 25, 2015

If you follow our social media platforms, you will probably have seen at least one link to a post about online fundraising either through Give as You Live or Easy Fundraising. This type of fundraising has become very popular with charities, as it is easy and anybody can get involved. And, better yet, it costs you absolutely nothing! We've put together a guide on how you can join in to help us help animals.

  1. Sign up to your chosen website - we are registered with Give as You Live and Easy Fundraising. You can create an account and decide which good cause you would like to support (hopefully us! Use the links above to be directed to our fundraising pages.).
  2. Take a look at all of the retailers that have signed up with the cause. Give as You Live has over 4,000 retailers involved including Amazon, eBay, Tesco, John Lewis, Sainsbury's, Just Eat, and Trainline. Easy Fundraising works with over 2,700 retailers including Argos, Apple Store, Late Rooms, Next, Travelodge, Marks and Spencer, and Boots.
  3. When you go to order something online, instead of going straight to the website, go to Give as You Live or Easy Fundraising. Find the shop on their website that you are buying from, click through and make the purchase as usual. Using this 'portal' tells the website that you have come from a fundraising organisation and would like to support a charity with your purchase. The shop you buy from rewards the charity that you support, at no extra cost to you.
  4. Check back at the charity page of your good cause and see how much you've helped, simply by changing the way you order online!

You can also register your business, so any business purchases you make can help out our charity. Both also have fundraising reminder toolbars available, that simply let you know which website you're looking at are part of the initiative. And it's all completely free! Easy Fundraising and Give as You Live both have lots more information on their website, so you can find the answer to any of your questions on the links.

The money raised comes directly to Derby RSPCA, and is spent on rehabilitating and rehoming the neediest animals in the area. Your online shopping makes a huge difference to the help we can provide cats, dogs, rabbits, birds and small mammals and allows us to continue our vital work. All with little effort and no cost - result!
