Neutering Scheme 2015

Nov 18, 2015

Followers of our social media channels will likely have seen the posts we have been sharing recently regarding low cost neutering in a joint venture with Cats Protection and Derby Homes.

This low cost neutering scheme is to encourage people to get their cats neutered to prevent unwanted litters of kittens and help to stop diseases from popping up in the future. The benefits of neutering are well known and documented, and you can find out more about the behaviour and health changes it can improve in your pet here. Neutering is a simple routine operation that can prevent a whole host of worries and put your mind at rest knowing you've helped your cat.

The initiative also includes microchipping, which is essential for keeping your cat safe. Many stray cats never find their way back home, and end up in a rescue centre for rehoming, although not all of them are that lucky. A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is inserted between the shoulder blades with a special needle. If you cat goes missing, he or she can be scanned at any veterinary surgery or rescue centre, enabling staff to easily get in touch with you to return your pet. This simple procedure gives you peace of mind and is incredibly important, particularly with cats as they do tend to explore more on their own than dogs.

Originally this scheme was only going to be taking place in Derwent (DE21) area of Derby, but we understand that cat owners in other areas of the city may need help too so you can request to be involved with the initiative by getting in touch. For just ‎£10.00 you can have your male or female cat neutered and microchipped and know that they are set to live and healthy and happy life with you!

If you would like more information or to book your cat in for the scheme, call Rachele on 07583365630. You can also find more information about Cats Protection neutering projects here and more information on neutering your pet is available from National RSPCA here. .
