Our Staff
The Derby and District RSPCA staff team pictures will all appear soon. We are just waiting for our resident David Bailey to visit our Long Eaton Charity Shop and take some pictures for us.
This is Deb our Branch Manager on holiday with her two Derby RSPCA rescue dogs - unfortunately Bruno, the old fella, is no longer with us but he absoloutely loved being on holiday at the seaside - there was always something interesting to sniff out on the beach! After a while, things didn't feel quite right with just one dog so Deb and her husband began weekend fostering for us. The last dog fostered, Lexi who has become good pals with Penny, has now been adopted by Deb. Penny is looking decidedly bored at the latest England performance and Lexi looks as if she is going to nod off...

Meet Karen, our Community Manager. Karen looks after our Volunteers, our Events and our PR - she does get a bit of rest in between, but not much! Karen is shown at The Big 1, Chaddesden Carnival. She is particularly proud of our gazeebo so keep an eye out for us at events in our region and come and say hello. If you let Karen know you have seen her on our website she might let you have a free go on our tombola.......but then again.....
Karen has a couple of rescue cats and hopefully their pictures will follow shortly.
Meet Andrea, one of our Animal Care / Relief Receptionist staff. Andrea originally started as the receptionist at Derby RSPCA but has moved towards animal care and loves it. She has been with us for a few years now and there isn't much that goes on with the cats and small animals that she doesn't know about. Andrea has her own dog, rabbit and horses and hopefully she will let us have some pictures soon
Malcolm is our Animal Centre Manager and is responsible for the animal welfare and rehoming at Abbey Street. He has his own staffie x rescue called Archie, but Patch was his constant companion at work until we found him a lovely new home to go even though he is 14! Malcolm is passionate about animal welfare and is particularly focused at the moment on trying to highlight the importance of people having their cats neutered - we are currently trying to care for about 40 kittens as well as some pregnant mums who are about to give birth.
Lucy has worked for Derby RSPCA since leaving school and there isn't a lot she doesn't know about domestic animal care - she also tends to look after a lot of the wildlife that is brought into the Centre by members of the public until we can take it to a local wildlife centre. Lucy works as one of our Animal Care / Relief Receptionist staff and has been waiting to rescue a Dachsund and soon rehomed Charlie when he came into the Centre earlier this year. Lucy is shown with Tipsy, one of the cats available for rehoming at Derby RSPCA.
Denise has worked at a couple of RSPCA branches but has settled with us now. Denise is one of our Animal Care / Relief Receptionist staff and there isn't much that gets by her when it comes to caring for the dogs at Derby RSPCA. Denise has a rescue cat and as much as she would love a dog she knows it isn't fair when she works full time. Denise is shown with Ben one of our dogs that has recently been rehomed.
Matt has worked for Derby RSPCA since leaving school. Matt enjoys working with all the different types of animals at the Centre but has a couple of mad cats at home. Matt is shown here with one of the Centre's current residents!
Gill and Jan are the Manager and Deputy Manager at our Long Eaton Charity Shop. Gill, on the right, joined the team in 2009 and Jan has been a supporter of us for many years, beginning as a volunteer. Between them they ensure the shop runs smoothly and where possible our customers find what they want.
