Animal Care roles

Kennel Team Leader, Animal Care Assistant and Morning Animal Care Assistant

FULL, PART TIME AND WEEKEND POSITIONS AVAILABLE

DO YOU WANT TO DO A JOB WHICH MAKES A REAL DIFFERENCE?

DO YOU LOVE ANIMALS?

Based in the centre of Derby, the role of Derby & District RSPCA is to provide help and support for animals and their owners in the area. Our work is invaluable to the lives of the many animals that have suffered from cruelty or neglect and we are mainly reliant on the generosity of the public and other funding sources.

Our overall aim is to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Rehome animals in need and last year over 1100 animals went to their new loving home.

The Kennel Team Leader vacancy focuses on ensuring we meet the necessary standards to rehabilitate the dogs in our care.   We are looking for an experienced person who has a minimum of two years kennel experience and is particularly interested in the rehabilitation aspects of rescue dogs.  The successful person will oversee the day to day running of the kennels.  Salary will be commensurate with experience, but in the region of £15k-£17k.  Full Time, 35 hours per week.

The Animal Care Assistant vacancy focuses on animal care, specifically feeding and medicating the animals, helping with veterinary visits and cleaning and making the accommodation comfortable.  It is also a key part of the role to exercise, train and enrich the lives of the animals whilst they stay with us.  Salary is NMW/NLW.  Full-Time but Part-Time considered.

The Morning Animal Care Assistant vacancy focuses primarily on dogs and quarantine cats.  The role is fundamentally about cleaning and making animal accommodation comfortable along with feeding the animals.   15 hours per week over 5 mornings, NMW/NLW.

All of the roles provide an opportunity for a caring, conscientious, resilient and organised individual to become part of our animal care team.

Good people skills are essential as part of our commitment to customer care.

An NVQ level 2 in animal care is preferred, but not essential, as training will be given, and a willingness to study for RSPCA Standard Procedures is required.  As part of a rota system, weekend and bank holiday working are necessary.

We are a close-knit but hardworking team, who all share a passion for animals, have high standards and would welcome someone who shares the same goals to work alongside us.

Derby & District RSPCA is one of the leading animal welfare charities in the area and the successful individuals will have the opportunity to help take the organisation to the next level of welfare delivery for local animals in need.
