Help us to meet the demands of unforeseen medical attention that animals like Ruby so urgently need.

**Donate your time**

There are so many ways that you can help and become involved with our Centre. You can help our in one of our charity shops, dog walking, organising your own fundraiser or even attend our events throughout the year! There are many roles that are varied throughout our Centre, take a look below at the role descriptions and see how you can help.

As an independent charity we rely on volunteers to donate their time to help keep our Animal Centre running on a daily basis, as it takes approximately £9,000 a week to run the Centre and we aren’t government funded!

Please note: you must be 16+ for animal care roles, 18+ for dog walking, and 25+ to drive due to insurance restrictions. Under 16’s can volunteer at fundraising events as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

"So what can Volunteering give back?"

Volunteering for us is an amazing thing to do to help animal welfare as we rehomed over 1,000 animals in 2017, which, for a small Centre is an amazing number and we could not have found new amazing homes for all those animals without the help of our Volunteers. Not only will you be helping out all the dedicated staff, but you will be learning new skills, making new friends and having fun! Volunteering for a great cause will give you a fuzzy feeling in your tummy knowing you’ve done some great in the world and something you can be very proud of! Oh, did we mention it also looks great on your CV too?!

"What’s the Criteria?"

To volunteer with us you must meet the following criteria:

  • UK Resident
  • Minimum age requirements (18+) for Animal Care

"How do I apply?"

View our current volunteer vacancies here, and apply!
Applications are usually assessed within 14 days of completion.

If you would like to discuss a role in further detail or for any other questions, please call Georgina on 01332 344620. Our phonelines are open between 10am – 4pm daily.

"So what happens next?"

If you are successful, we will then contact you with the next steps to take. Volunteering is no different to any other recruitment process, and so we will expect:

    • Full references
    • Full induction – which will be given and usually lasts approximately 1.5 hours in duration.
    • Health & Safety Training
    • Assessment of any further training needs

Once the induction is completed you are ready for volunteering! If appropriate, we will buddy you with a staff member to support you. Nevertheless, support systems are always in place with your area manager which will be assigned depending on your role type.

All volunteers will be given support when needed. We’re always here to lend a helping hand!

*Volunteer uniform is available to purchase at induction. A hoodie & a t-shirt come as a combo for minimum donation of £10.

Thank you so much for choosing to volunteer with us here at Abbey Street! We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our team!
