Everything You Need To Know About Carsington 7+ 2016

May 04, 2016

Our 5th annual race at Carsington Reservoir is fast approaching, and it's set to be the best one yet! We're currently getting ready for the big day and looking forward to another great turnout. In a beautiful location and at a great time of year (15th May - neither too hot, nor too cold) it's a great event for all runners looking to race whilst raising money for a good cause.

How can you get involved?

Enter Carsington 7 Race

The Carsington 7 Race is a clockwise circuit that takes you 12.5km around the reservoir. You can join over 300 runners planning to race on the day by entering online here, and online entries are being taken right up until 13th of May, guaranteeing you a number and chip timing for the race. We will also have limited spaces available on the day, though for these we cannot guarantee chip timing for runners. Entry costs £15.00 for affiliated runners and £17.00 for unaffiliated runners, although group entries are also available - details can be found here. Entrants must be 17 years old or over, and the race starts at 9.30am but helpers will be around from 8am, when you can pick up your number from outside the visitor centre.

All runners receive a goodie bag, tshirt and water kindly supplied by Buxton Water.

Enter Stone Island Spin

If the 12.5km main race is a bit daunting for you, why not try the new Stone Island Spin? This 1 mile run is designed to be fun for all the family (and even your four legged friends!), due to it being a flat and traffic free race. The Stone Island Spin starts at 10.30am and costs just £3.00 to enter. If you'd like to get involved with the mini race you can find more information here. Water will be available in bowls for dogs.

All runners receive a goodie bag, rosette and water kindly supplied by Buxton Water.

Volunteer at the Event

Volunteers are crucial to the success of our fundraising events - we couldn't do it without our dedicated team! We are still looking for marshalling volunteers to help out on the day with registration and pointing runners in the right direction when needs be. If you'd like to get involved with volunteering at Carsington 7 please contact Sarah.

Sponsor an Event

This year, the Carsington 7 Race is kindly sponsored by Alps Group and Smith Partnership. Our sponsors are incredibly important! We wouldn't be able to host events such as these without them, and they are vital to our fundraising work to allow us to continue rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need. If you would be interested in sponsoring an event please contact Victoria.

Come Down!

Cheering on your friends and family, or even people you don't know, is a huge help! Running 12.5km is a massive achievement and it helps keep runners motivated and pumped to cross the finish line. The race begins at 9.30am so why not come down and cheer on our fantastic athletes?

If you would like any more information about the event, please take a look at our events page. And keep an eye out for our review of the day, coming soon...
