A day in the life
Authored on: 20 October 2022
On Tuesday 27th November, our Patron, Sir Tony Robinson, spent the day working as an Animal Care Assistant at our Abbey Street centre, and then as a Charity Shop Assistant at our Alvaston shop. The day started with breakfast - Sir Tony prepared meals for our dogs, which they all wolfed down!
Then it was bath time for Bruno, who seemed very pleased with his pampering.
Sir Tony spent some time socialising our kittens, a very important job which ensures our kittens are ready to go to their new homes! Christie and her 5 siblings were found in a suitcase abandoned in a library.
Then he was back with the dogs for some play time in the yard. Sam loved his game of tug with Tony!
Next, Sir Tony headed over to our Alvaston charity shop where he met Gwen (Deputy Manager) and Fran (Manager).
He learned how to use the till and served his first customer!
And finally, he presented Brenda with a Long Service Award to mark 5 years of volunteering with us!
It was a fantastic day and Sir Tony really got stuck in! He said "Having spent a morning with the team at Abbey Street, it has doubled my appreciation of what RSPCA Derby does for the animals and local community."
