In memory of Lynn Rhowbotham

Lynn Rhowbotham was a dedicated volunteer at RSPCA Derby for many years. Starting as a cattery volunteer, Lynn would come to Abbey Street several times a week with her husband to spend time with our cats. She would always make sure she visited every cat in our care so that none of them missed out on some attention. She had a fondness for nervous cats in particular, spending many an hour sat quietly with them to help them settle in. Lynn really understood cats and would speak softly to them and encourage them to come out for a fuss. We've lost count of the amount of cats Lynn helped rehabilitate in this way. Lynn went on to also support us at events, helping us to raise vital funds so we could keep taking in the cats she so lovingly helped us care for.

Earlier this year, Lynn received the very sad news that she was terminally ill. Knowing that she wanted to leave a legacy for future cats in need, she donated a substantial amount of money so we could purchase equipment to enrich the lives of the cats in our care. Thanks to Lynn's generosity, each of our cat pods will be fitted with a bespoke cat tree system, tailored to cater to the needs of cats of various ages. We we able to show Lynn what the cat tree systems would look like and sent the news that the first of the cat trees was ordered before she sadly passed away in October.

Lynn is remembered fondly by everyone who knew her and had the pleasure of working and volunteering alongside her. She will be greatly missed by all of us at RSPCA Derby and our thoughts are with her family and friends.
