Potential adopters must be able to fill out the necessary paperwork online
Please be patient with replies we are currently working with limited staff
If you have not heard from us after completion of a 'Perfect Match' form within 2 weeks then please assume you have not been successful in rehoming an animal at this time (the reply may be longer if you are enquiring about adopting a kitten)
We are not currently open for general viewings of animals. Once you have completed a Perfect Match form and have been matched with an animal, an appointment can be made where necessary to meet that animal prior to adoption.
Please note: All our dogs are unique and are carefully assessed so that we know what they will need in their new home. If your application shows that your family or your home do not meet the specific requirements of a particular dog then unfortunately you will not hear from us as we will not be able to progress your application.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
The role of Derby & District RSPCA is to provide help & support for animals & their owners from Derby & the surrounding area. Our work is invaluable to the lives of the many animals that have suffered from cruelty or neglect.
Every year, over 1,000 homeless animals are brought in to us. We do our best to find loving homes for all of them.
It can take weeks and sometimes months to rehabilitate animals. Our staff and volunteers work hard to ensure every animal that comes through our doors will find their 'perfect match'.
The Abbey Street A-list need some extra special care and attention. Please have a read of their stories and support them in any way that you can.

Dogs basic commands
Hi there, I'm Mags! I am currently in a foster home but it's time I found my forever home. I haven't had an easy life recently - when I came to Abbey Street I was very underweight and I had really bad teeth! My fosterer looked after me so well (I had 7 small meals a day - YUM!) and I gained enough weight to have a dental. I am all recovered from the operation now, and I am loving life once again (although I heard my fosterer say that I am a bit of a lazy bones!) My favourite thing to do is cuddle up on the sofa and snooze the day away. If you can offer me a quiet retirement home, please do apply to adopt me today.
Please don't scroll past me, I know I might look a bit scary but I promise I'm not! My name is Shadow and I am looking for a fresh start. I was living a hard life before coming to Abbey Street. I spent my time on the streets with a very painful eye condition, but I have had an operation to fix it, and I am feeling much much better! I am a little unsure of humans at first, but I know when I get into a home I will soon learn to trust again. I would like to be the only cat, and I need to live indoors as I have FIV, but I'll be very happy to be off the streets and in the safety and warmth of a loving home. Please consider opening your heart and home to me, and apply to adopt me today.
