Potential adopters must be able to fill out the necessary paperwork online
Please be patient with replies we are currently working with limited staff
If you have not heard from us after completion of a 'Perfect Match' form within 2 weeks then please assume you have not been successful in rehoming an animal at this time (the reply may be longer if you are enquiring about adopting a kitten)
In order to minimise the number of people at the centre, we are not currently open for general viewings of animals. Once you have completed a Perfect Match form and have been matched with an animal, an appointment can be made where necessary to meet that animal prior to adoption.
Please note: All our dogs are unique and are carefully assessed so that we know what they will need in their new home. If your application shows that your family or your home do not meet the specific requirements of a particular dog then unfortunately you will not hear from us as we will not be able to progress your application.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
The role of Derby & District RSPCA is to provide help & support for animals & their owners from Derby & the surrounding area. Our work is invaluable to the lives of the many animals that have suffered from cruelty or neglect.
Every year, over 1,000 homeless animals are brought in to us. We do our best to find loving homes for all of them.
It can take weeks and sometimes months to rehabilitate animals. Our staff and volunteers work hard to ensure every animal that comes through our doors will find their 'perfect match'.
The Abbey Street A-list need some extra special care and attention. Please have a read of their stories and support them in any way that you can.

Hi, my name is Shep and I need you to help heal my broken heart. I was once, not so long ago a much beloved pet but I did arrive at Abbey Street with long claws, matted fur and fleas- but I know my owner did love me very dearly. Thankfully the superb team at Abbey Street have seen me right and I'm now on the lookout for a new place to call home. Please apply to adopt me today! On another note, how do you feel about sloppy kisses? I am really good at them :)!
Hi, my name is Ace and I am looking for a home with my three friends Cosmo, Orbit and Rolo. We arrived at Abbey Street after being rescued by an RSPCA Inspector, we were living with over 50 other piggies! As you can probably imagine we didn't get handled very often so we are still a little bit nervous, but with some love and care and I know me and my friends will thrive- we just need a patient home. We LOVE our food and get really excited when we see our favourite veggies as a treat for us. Now we are getting more comfortable with our fosterer and we showing our individual personalities- and we just want to show our forever home the same. Do you have space for us four?
Hi, we (and lots of our friends) are looking for homes, we currently live in a lovely little place called Basil Bungalow but we really want to find a more permanent place to call home. Did you know we make wonderful pets and we have been handled regularly from when we were little so we are very tame. Do you have a swanky enclosure for us so we can upgrade from the Basil Bungalow?
